Daniel Farke tipped for sit-down talks with Ethan Ampadu after Leeds United disaster

Leeds United fans saw a positive in Ethan Ampadu making an appearance on Saturday as Daniel Farke could’ve involved him in major talks.

The Leeds captain consistently returning to the lineup could be the exact boost Farke’s squad need.

Although he was subbed off early, Farke will be treating his skipper carefully, as the Welshman will be crucial to the run-in.

His leadership on and off the pitch has been shown this season, as Ampadu had to calm down Leeds teammates at times.

The 24-year-old clearly has a major role in the dressing room and gives a reason as to why Farke could involve him in pivotal talks.

It was always risky for Farke to chuck Ampadu in for the Swansea game, but it shows fans he’s not afraid to make major decisions.

This could be seen with Wilfried Gnonto, who no doubt deserves a start against Luton which as Graham Smyth is ‘convinced’ Gnonto returns to starting.

But Farke has another key decision to make regarding Illan Meslier, as his howlers vs the Swans cost Leeds three points.

Speaking to BBC Sport West Yorkshire, Leeds journalist Adam Pope has suggested that Farke will need to speak to Ampadu to sense the atmosphere around Meslier’s position.

“If he doesn’t drop that ball, then it’s another victory,” Pope said.

“Maybe Farke sits down with Ampadu and says, ‘Ethan do the lads trust him at all, be honest, look me in the eyes and tell me’.

“The way it’s going, this will ruin Leeds’ chances.”

Farke should know Meslier decision by now at Leeds

With the Frenchman in his sixth season by now, Leeds fans will probably have reached breaking point sooner than this.

Although the keeper has performed for a large part of his Elland Road stay, you could count on both hands how many mistakes the 25-year-old has made during his tenure.

This ultimately means the decision to drop Meslier is in plain sight and Farke shouldn’t need to lean on Ampadu for advice.

Darren Bent thinks Farke will stick with Meslier, as do many other pundits and fans, but after six years, Farke has to drop him by now, surely.
