Daniel Farke shares two bits of ‘good news’ for Leeds United ahead of Millwall match

Daniel Farke delivered mixed news on the injury front ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Millwall on Sunday.

The Whites have enjoyed a welcome nine-day break since the 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday last time out, which has allowed the squad to fully rest and recover.

Jaidon Anthony, Stuart Dallas, Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk were Leeds’ only absentees at Hillsborough and Farke has provided a positive update on two of those players.

There were reports earlier in the week claiming both Anthony and Shackleton would be available again, with the former having been out due to personal reasons, and the latter with concussion.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke has seemingly confirmed that news with both set to be in contention for a place in the squad after a full week of training under their belts.

He said: “Some good news with Jamie and Jaidon Anthony, back available for this game at the weekend.”

It is highly unlikely that either will start anyway but the more numbers Farke has available to him the better, as Leeds prepare for both a physically and mentally demanding promotion run-in.

Though he has not started in the league since October, Anthony’s return will be a particularly welcome boost for Farke, with the 24-year-old having shown what he can do recently in the FA Cup.

He scored a brilliant goal in the fourth round draw with Plymouth Argyle, before then providing two lovely assists for Mateo Joseph in the defeat at Chelsea.

His inclusion in the squad will be another good option for Farke to bring off the bench and hopefully he can contribute before returning to Bournemouth in the summer.

Shackleton, meanwhile, hasn’t always made the bench for Leeds this season even when available but his return is another option for Farke to choose from.
