There were many good performances from Leeds United on Saturday as Daniel Farke’s side got back to winning ways after last weekend’s disappointing draw against Preston North End.
In the final home game of the season, Leeds earned their biggest win of the 2024-25 season so far with a stunning 4-0 win that saw Dan James, Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronson and Manor Solomon score goals.
Solomon enjoyed his best display in a Leeds shirt. Not only did he score but he also laid on two assists and Aaronson may feel he enjoyed one of his outings, scoring one goal and creating Bogle’s effort.
Daniel Farke shares what he told Brenden Aaronson at half-time
In the first half, Aaronson was his normal self. Getting in the right areas, working his socks off but unable to provide the end product. An issue that has often frustrated Leeds fans throughout his time in Yorkshire.
But Leeds fans were left delighted with Aaronson when he laid on an assist for Bogle and then scored a goal of his own, his sixth of the season. A gorgeous first touch, finishing with aplomb when through.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the win, Daniel Farke shares what he told Aaronson at half-time after a couple of chances he blazed over the bar. Farke says it has become a “tendency” with Aaronson this term.
“We’ve spoken about how relentless he is, but he’s so important for our balance. Of course, he could be more tidy, he’s still young. His numbers are good. In the first half he had a couple of chances,” he said.
“At half-time, we spoke individually, to concentrate to bring the body over the ball to be there with a tidy finish because he has a tendency to put the ball over the bar. Ice-cold finish, good for his confidence.”
Daniel Farke trust is going to get the best out of Aaronson
The USA star is a confidence player. Since his move to Elland Road, it has been clear that he has needed the faith of his manager to excel, and the support of fans and right now, Aaronson largely has both.
Farke continues to start him, and the majority of fans are hopeful Aaronson can come good despite his decision to leave in the summer of 2023 to go to Union Berlin on loan and that he is often frustrating.
But Aaronson’s six league goals for Leeds this season is his best return in terms of league goals so far in his young career. Aaronson is some way off his aim of 30 goals and assists, but there are some glimpses.
