Daniel Farke has told Wednesday’s press conference – as per the club’s YouTube channel – that Djed Spence is expected to return to Leeds United team training after the November international break.

Spence, 23, has only managed one outing for Leeds so far – coming off the bench in the draw with Sheffield Wednesday. But immediately after his debut, he picked up a knee injury in Leeds training.

He has since been sidelined, with Archie Gray, Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton all deputising on the right side of the defence. Spence is expected to start when he is fit, after joining on loan from Spurs.

Given it is the best part of two months since he last played, Spence will be desperate to get back to fitness in order to pull on a Leeds shirt. Farke responded when asked for an update on the defender.

“Not in team training at the moment. Expect him to be back in next 7 to 14 days. He won’t be involved in any game before the international break but we expect him to be back on the other side,” Farke said.

Daniel Farke delivers update on Leeds defender Djed Spence

A blow, given Leeds still have two more fixtures before the international break of November. But at least, it means that Spence could be in action before the end of the month – Leicester and Plymouth up next.

So, it might be November 24 when Spence finally makes his second outing for Leeds – a trip to the New York Stadium to take on rivals Rotherham United. Spence, at his best, immediately improves this side.

Ahead of the weekend, Farke said that Joe Rodon, Cree Summerville and Sam Byram are all fit to play against Leicester. Joe Gelhardt has joined Stuart Dallas, Junior Firpo and Spence on the sidelines.
