Daniel Farke spoke after Leeds United’s 2-1 win over Valencia on Saturday afternoon and the Leeds boss fielded a question about the returning Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober.
Two of the eight-strong loan army that jumped ship last summer using Victor Orta’s loan clause, Wober and Aaronson both went on loan to the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach and Union Berlin.
Wober enjoyed a consistent campaign, while Aaronson endured a difficult start but ended playing a key part in Union’s survival from relegation. To many people’s surprise, both have returned to Elland Road.
There was rumours Aaronson may given he cost £25m initially, and that he is still young. Wober’s return to Leeds was a surprise, though it has become clear that Gladbach could simply not afford the Austrian.
Farke praises Leeds duo Aaronson and Wober for training attitude
Both featured for Leeds in Germany against Hannover and Schalke, before both coming off the bench on 64 minutes on Saturday. There was a mixed reception from Leeds fans at Elland Road as they featured.
But at this level, the £35m duo will certainly improve Farke’s side and almost act as new signings for this Leeds side. Speaking to LUTV, Farke was asked if they are ready to start in his side after their Leeds return.
“They’ve not even been with us two weeks. They started the training camp in Germany but they need a bit of time to shine for us, 100%. But all the signs are good, really committed in training, good attitude.
“Obviously they need a bit of time to adapt, Max played a lot of games last season. Brenden more at the end of the season. They are in a good mood and have a point to prove. They have to convince everyone.
“They want to prove to everyone that they want to be a part of our family and we have to give them a chance. Right now it’s up to them to deliver. I have to say, in training and how they behaved, top class.”

We are now just a week until Leeds get their Championship campaign underway as Farke eyes a second push for promotion back to the Premier League. There is a feeling he must do it this term, or lose his job.
Farke opted for Pascal Struijk alongside Joe Rodon instead of Wober, and moved Wilfried Gnonto to the left to replace Crysencio Summerville and inserted Dan James on the right wing over USA star Aaronson.
Farke’s comments on Aaronson and Wober after the game suggest that they were only on the bench as they look to catch their teammates up in terms of fitness. But against Portsmouth, they might be subs.
