Daniel Farke says what Paraag Marathe has done behind the scenes at Leeds is ‘a good sign’

Leeds United will be pleased with how the first third of the Championship campaign has panned out for them.

After 15 rounds of matches, Daniel Farke’s side are third in the table and only two points behind Sunderland and Sheffield United, who are first and second respectively.

Leeds will fancy winning against Swansea City in the Championship this weekend and making it three wins in their last four league fixtures.

For any club to be successful on the pitch, they need to be stable and have a strong team and ambitious owners behind the scenes as well. 

And in the 49ers Enterprises Leeds have just that. In Paraag Marathe, the West Yorkshire club also have a chairman who knows how to be successful.

Marathe has facilitated Red Bull’s investment in Leeds. There are also plans to expand Elland Road.

The 49ers Enterprises and Marathe recently made some changes to the Leeds recruitment team. Just before the international break, the West Yorkshire club decided to promote Alex Davies and Adam Underwood.

Davies has been working as an analyst and scout for a long time. He is now the head of recruitment at Leeds.

Underwood is still the club’s Head of Football Operations, but he will take more of a lead on player trading and will have more responsibility.

Leeds head coach Farke has praised the 49ers Enterprises and Marathe for these internal promotions instead of bringing in people from outside.

What Daniel Farke thinks of 49ers Enterprises and Paraag Marathe

Farke said about changes in Leeds’s recruitment strategy: “In general, these are decisions for our key people. I do not run the club, I run the sport. No comments in public on my time. Internally, I give my thoughts on these topics.

“What affects me is the step up of Alex and Adam Underwood. I have worked with them in the past, and Adam a bit more with the academy.

“Charlie Crew, Chambers, Debayo, Archie Gray. Adam played key role in these developments. Worked with Alex on scouting. Good relationship. Work even closer and more intensely.

“A testament to what the 49ers are doing and what Paraag is doing. Quite often, they take their own people into crucial positions, but we have two lads with Adam and Alex who are working for this club for decades.

“They have white blood in their veins. It’s a good sign they want to develop what they have in the club already instead of finding someone new in these roles. Not up to me to judge it. I run the football, but in general terms, it’s an important picture.”

49ers Enterprises have long-term Leeds ambition

Leeds lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton last season and missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The ambition for the Whites this season is to end the regular season in the top two and clinch automatic promotion. Leeds are in a very good position to do so.

Even if that does not happen, Leeds fans need not worry about the 49ers Enterprises ditching the club anytime soon.

The 49ers Enterprises plan to own Leeds for more than 10 years. They see the English club as a long-term project and are committed to the cause.
