Daniel Farke says Leeds United player is proving him right after signing him, he’s in ‘really good’ form

Daniel Farke was in excellent form following Leeds United’s 2-1 win over Preston on Saturday, which came at the same time as Plymouth coming from behind to beat Sheffield United.

Jayden Bogle and Manor Solomon netted as Leeds picked up a 25th Championship win of the season. It came in only their 42nd game, taking the Whites to 88 points as Sheffield United lost once again.

The Blades suffered a third consecutive defeat, despite leading in the final 10 minutes against Plymouth. Chris Wilder bemoaned his side’s run of three straight losses, suggesting the promotion race is dead.

There are plenty of Leeds players in form at the moment but two stood head and shoulders above the rest on Saturday afternoon. It was the two goalscorers, Solomon and Bogle, who provided the difference.

Daniel Farke says Jayden Bogle proving him right after £5m deal

There were a few question marks regarding Bogle’s arrival. His ability to defend in the Premier League came under the microscope while at Sheffield United – though he did score three top-tier goals last term.

On Saturday, Bogle netted his sixth goal of the season with a close-range finish from Solomon’s cross. Eight goals and assists for the right-back, and Farke said after the game that he hoped Bogle could score.

Indeed, Farke told reporters it was one of the reasons he signed him from Sheffield United: “I was hoping for this when we signed him, we knew that he would be able to score goals and deliver assists.

“The same with Junior Firpo on the other side and they make life difficult for Isaac Schmidt and Sam Byram who are also fantastic players. Bogle is playing a really good season,” Farke said after the 2-1 win.

Brought in to replace Luke Ayling, Bogle’s early-season mistakes saw Leeds question the £5m fee spent to sign him. Since then, £25k-a-week Bogle has been immense – who is Leeds’ joint-fifth top scorer on six.

Bogle always showed a willingness to get forward at Sheffield United and his goals against Chelsea and both Manchester Clubs last season show Bogle is more than adept when in the opposition penalty area.

But with Leeds looking as though they will get promoted automatically now, Bogle has a point to prove in the top tier with more focus likely to be placed on the former Sheffield United star’s ability to defend.
