Daniel Farke told Saturday evening’s press conference – as per Leeds Live – that Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter is “overthinking” things and needs to become more “brutal” in the final third to score.
Rutter, 21, played the entire 90 minutes as Leeds failed to make the breakthrough against a well-drilled Sheffield Wednesday side. He has managed only one goal in his five outings this term, at Ipswich Town.
A goal full of class – going past numerous players before slotting home. But the Frenchman has failed to convert easier chances. On Saturday, Leeds had 16 shots on goal but only four of those were on target.
Leeds are going to need to rely on Rutter in attack this season. Yes, the club have signed Joel Piroe and Jaidon Anthony – but we have also lost Luis Sinisterra and Brenden Aaronson. Patrick Bamford is injured.

Rutter is still finding his feet. It must be remembered he has only been in England since January. He has already learnt the language pretty well. Farke said what he wants to see from Rutter moving forward.
“Needs to be fit. Sometimes you cannot explain it. Sometimes difficult to finish your chances and other times you look at the ball and it goes in. Spoke to him. Solution is not to overthink things too much.
“Don’t be too artificial. Doesn’t need to look great. Just get it into the net. Need a brutal finish and the curse can be broken. Don’t overthink or feel sorry for yourself. Clinical. All strikers have these periods.”

Daniel Farke: Leeds attacker Georginio Rutter overthinking things
Rutter is a wonderful talent – but it must be remembered that he is just that, a talent. A player with huge potential, but is yet to convert potential to proven quality. Must be looked after, given the right platform.
He will get there and moments against Ipswich suggest he will start to show it in a Leeds shirt. But there will be games where he struggles, too. Hopefully, those become less and less as the year grows older.
