Back in the summer, Daniel Farke said that Cody Drameh’s loan to Birmingham City was the “best move” for all parties and now, it is starting to look that way with the Leeds United man impressing.
Following relegation, the 21-year-old was expected to be our starting right-back. Luke Ayling‘s form had dipped and Drameh was likely to return to Elland Road and start, given his previous form at Luton Town.
He’s just helped them gain promotion, and Drameh started the first pre-season game of the season in Oslo against Manchester United. But injury occurred and by the start of the season, he was still injured.
His only League outing of the season came at Ipswich, where he was subbed on and subbed off in the space of about 25 minutes. Farke made up his mind and Drameh was sent out on loan for a third spell.
Following his exit, Farke said that Drameh’s move to St. Andrews was a “a smart move for all parties”. Almost three months down the line, Drameh has started and finished all 12 Championship matches.

That is despite Birmingham choosing to sack John Eustace and bring in Wayne Rooney as manager – a decision that is still under scrutiny, with Rooney suffering four defeats in his first five games in charge.
But Drameh is impressing and is considered one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment. He is already widely experienced in the Championship and that is showing. It is a move that is suiting all.
Birmingham have got a top player on loan, without having to pay. Drameh is putting himself in the shop window, and similarly gives us a nice headache. A player that Ben Parker has described as “wonderful”.
Either, Leeds extend his contract which expires next June – or, it finally sees Leeds end their problems with Drameh, and wave goodbye to him given the amount of clubs that will be interested in him.
