Leeds United spent heavily to bolster their midfield options in the final week of the window.
The Whites paid in excess of £11 million to bring in both Glen Kamara from Rangers, and Ilia Gruev from Werder Bremen in order to ease the workload on current first choice pairing Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu.
Kamara and Gruev were unused substitutes in Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw at Hull City, with minutes having been at a premium for both since their arrival.
However, with Gray still only 17-years-old it is important Leeds do not overuse him and it is fair to say during the latter stages at the MKM Stadium, he started to look leggy.
Having had just two days to prepare for the game against Hull, Leeds now have another short turnaround before they are in action again at home to Watford on Saturday.
Farke should unleash Kamara on Saturday
This weekend’s game represents the perfect opportunity to unleash Kamara from the start, with Daniel Farke needing to add some freshness to his engine room.
Gray has been brilliant during the opening few weeks of the campaign but Leeds are at risk of burning him out if they continue to use him in this fashion.
Kamara has played just nine minutes of action since his move to Elland Road and he has now had more than enough time to get used to his teammates, and Farke’s system.
Leeds’ starting right-side were poor against Hull and Kamara’s ability in possession could be what they need to unlock deep defences in home matches, having drawn all three at Elland Road this season.
There will be no better time than Saturday for Farke to throw Kamara into the action with this busy schedule meaning rotation is simply a must.
