A report from Planet Sport states that Daniel Farke has identified Leeds United defender Max Wober as a potential new captain of the club, with the Austria ace expected to remain at Elland Road. Liam Cooper remains our skipper.
Wober, 25, only joined Leeds in January, since playing 19 times in all competitions for the Whites. But he did captain Salzburg at times, prior to moving to Elland Road. It looks as if he will be staying put at Leeds in the coming weeks.
The defender is likely to start for Leeds ahead of Liam Cooper. Farke is renowned for his 4-2-3-1 system. So, unless he combines Cooper and Wober at centre-back, or plays Wober in midfield or on the left, Cooper will be dropped.
That might mean that Cooper will be on the bench for the majority of this season, and with Luke Ayling fighting to start with Cody Drameh, Leeds could need to find a new player to wear the armband. Farke could turn to Wober.
All Leeds fans will have heard that we played Barnsley in a behind-closed-doors friendly, and Wober – who scored one of the nine goals – is said to have worn the armband. Planet Sport say Farke is eyeing the £11m man as skipper.

It is a sign that Farke is planning to start the likes of Drameh over Ayling, and Wober over Cooper. Despite the drop, both players have others ahead of them in the pecking order. Without Ayling or Cooper, who does captain Leeds?
Tyler Adams looks increasingly likely to remain at Leeds. He is obviously captain of his country and that makes him a possible successor. Perhaps in talks to keep him, that could be offered to Adams. But Farke likes the look of Wober.
