Daniel Farke has told Friday’s press conference – as per Leeds United’s YouTube channel – that he is confident Ethan Ampadu is okay to cope with the workload having played every single minute so far.
The 22-year-old has been superb for Leeds. He won the Player of the Month award for August and has continued to shine in September, including some wonderful displays against Millwall and last time out.
But that is now 11 games for club and country, playing 90 minutes 10 times – every minute for Leeds. Also, 90 minutes for Wales against Latvia, and a half against South Korea. He has played a huge amount.
Farke was asked about Ampadu and his game time on Friday’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Watford. The Leeds boss says he won’t take risks but is confident Ampadu can cope.
“I always have an eye on each of my players, when I get the feeling a player needs protection or a rest. Ethan is blessed with a good body, endurance and the ability to recover quick,” Farke said on Ampadu.
“We also speak to physios, doctors. We won’t take any risks. Ampadu has played many games. He had a good pre-season. It is easier for him to handle the load, unlike Sam Byram, or a player who is a bit older.”

He seems pretty robust, does Ampadu. Not only has he been our best player this season, but he has kept the consistency up too. Constantly, an 8/10 or above. That takes fitness to constantly be on it.
In an ideal world, he continues to play every minute for Leeds and Wales overlook him in October. But there is more chance of Ayling playing for England, than Wales overlooking him. He is key for both.
