Daniel Farke has told Thursday’s press conference – as per Leeds United’s YouTube – that Willy Gnonto and Jamie Shackleton are back after injuries, but three Leeds players remain on the sidelines injured.

Gnonto, 19, has been out for a number of weeks after picking up an injury in the 0-0 draw with Hull City. So, to have the Italy star back is a massive boost. He is available and will travel to Norwich on Saturday.

Also, Shackleton is back after the 24-year-old picked up a shoulder injury in training. He has missed the last two Championship matches but he is expected to be available for the trip to manager’s former side.

However, Farke also confirmed that Stuart Dallas, Junior Firpo and Djed Spence remain on the sidelines. All three are in and out of team training as they look to return fully – training every day with the team.

“Willy is back in team training since last Sunday. No problems so far. He hasn’t played for a while but he has looked sharp in training and he is a topic and available, he can travel. Jamie Shackleton is back.

“He is a topic to travel, after problems with his shoulder. Junior Firpo is back in team training since Tuesday, he was part-integrated. Trained fully yesterday. Trained alone today – after four, five months.

“The next step is then training for the full week – but he will need a few weeks to be available. Stuart Dallas, out for such a long time – he’s part-integrated. Sometimes he trains with the team,” Farke added.

“He will be a few weeks before coming back. Djed Spence is here, not Tottenham – he’s already training, not with the team. I still expect him to be out for a couple of weeks,” the Leeds gaffer continued.

Farke: Leeds duo Gnonto and Shackleton back for Norwich clash

Having Gnonto back is an enormous boost. One of our best players, he will now be competing to start with the in-form Dan James, as well as Cree Summerville and Jaidon Anthony. A selection headache.

Shackleton back on the bench is a good asset to have. He is unlikely to start, with Luke Ayling and Archie Gray fighting to start on the right and Sam Byram shining on the left side of the Leeds defence.

It will be interesting to see who starts on the right – with Gray playing three, 90 minutes during the break. Glen Kamara has also been away, playing in Finland and Kazakhstan. Plenty of decisions to make.
