The international break is over and Daniel Farke has given an update on his Leeds United squad ahead of Sunday’s trip to Millwall. Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo are out, Djed Spence a “major” doubt.

Leeds come into the game after a tricky 0-0 draw with local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in which we dominated, but could have easily suffered a loss to the newly-promoted Owls. A few were missing.

Patrick Bamford, Mateo Joseph, Dan James, Liam Cooper, Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and others were absent through injury for the Wednesday clash. It is a much stronger Leeds side when they return.

Prior to the break, Farke pinpointed the international break as a period in which a number of players would return to action ahead of the Millwall clash. Now, the Leeds gaffer has given an injury update.

He says that Stuart Dallas, £13m Firpo and Bamford are out. Spence is a doubt after a knock – but, Liam Cooper, Sam Byram, Dan James and new signings Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara are all ready to play.

“All in all, much improved. Stuart Dallas is improving. Patrick Bamford is out, he will miss the three games in six days but we are hopeful he will beb back in team training in the next week or after.

“Junior Firpo is out. He trained last week but he had a reaction, he has a problem with his hips. Last few days, individual training. That is more or less it. Djed Spence, a question mark. Private reasons.

“Yesterday at training, he got a knock on his knee – we need further assessment. A major doubt all the weekend. Liam Cooper is back, full-team training. Sam Byram, Dan James and our latest signings.”

Daniel Farke gives Leeds injury update ahead of Millwall clash

A trip to Millwall is always a tricky one for Leeds. So, having a number of players return not only to strengthen the starting XI but in turn, improve the options from the bench, is a massive Leeds plus.

Having Cooper, Byram and James back in the squad is a massive boost. It is likely that on the left, Jamie Shackleton continues on Sunday. Luke Ayling, over Spence, on the right. James may also be a sub.
