All the pressure is on Daniel Farke at the moment, with the Leeds United gaffer’s tenure weakening as the season goes on – and Marcelo Bielsa’s potential availability could make it worse for Farke.
LeedsUnited.News understands Farke will be given until January to sort Leeds’ form out after four defeats in five, and five losses in six away games. But Graham Smyth reckons Leeds need to beat Aston Villa.
The pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke… should Leeds United sack him?⌛
That, or get a couple of points from the three games after that against Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Not an easy task. If Leeds lose the next four, or fail to win one of them, it feels like Farke could be gone.
Well, that pressure could soon increase because of Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentine watched his Uruguay side suffer a heavy 5-1 defeat to Mauricio Pochettino’s USA in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Leeds icon Marcelo Bielsa could be about to become available
A report from Uruguayan outlet El Observador says Uruguay’s top brass are meeting to discuss the recent form of Bielsa’s side. The defeat to Brenden Aaronson’s men is just the latest poor result in a bad run.
Just five wins in the last 18 matches, in which 10 of them Uruguay failed to score, is said to be of concern for Uruguay’s footballing decision makers. The loss to USA has sparked a ‘critical’ meeting to be held.
Just eight months out from the World Cup held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada – the latter managed by Bielsa’s Leeds replacement Jesse Marsch – Bielsa could be sacked even if it is a very late decision.
The AUF, Uruguay’s football governing body, is claimed to be at a ‘crossroads’. Meetings were held in America and now, Bielsa’s tenure is under scrutiny. The Argentine is set to speak to reporters later today.

Would Leeds or Marcelo Bielsa consider an Elland Road reunion?
If there was one man to reignite that enthusiasm among supporters, it would be the hiring of Bielsa. The 49ers have earned criticism for the work done in the transfer window, but that would change with Bielsa.
It is impossible to know if Bielsa would consider a return to Leeds. The chances are he may feel he would not want to tarnish the legacy he has left by coming back to Elland Road and failing to secure survival.
| Team | Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | Win rate % |
| Leeds | 170 | 81 | 30 | 59 | 47.65 |
| Uruguay | 34 | 15 | 12 | 7 | 44.12 |
But if Bielsa does become available and Farke’s future remains in doubt, you can be sure of one thing. Fans will desperately want the club to re-hire Bielsa in the coming weeks, having been harshly sacked.
Andrea Radrizzani admits he was wrong to sack Bielsa back in the 2021-22 season. Whether that means the former Bilbao gaffer has unfinished business? Who knows. But Bielsa may be available, very soon.
