Daniel Farke will have been delighted to have secured a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday but he was left fuming with Pascal Struijk in the first half, as the Leeds United man overhit a pass.
Leeds squeezed past Boro at Elland Road to continue our excellent form at home. A good week, in which Leeds secured two wins – and got back to winning ways after a tricky draw against Rotherham away.
Emmanuel Latte Lath got a brace for Michael Carrick’s side, but it was cancelled out by goals from Dan James, Cree Summerville and then a penalty from Joel Piroe. Leeds held on to secure all three points.
But, it did not all go to plan and Farke was frustrated in the dugout. In the first half, the Leeds gaffer absolutely lamented Struijk‘s decision to play a cross-field ball that went straight out of play on the right.
The YEP reported on Monday: “Farke lost his cool with Struijk as the centre-back sent a long pass out of play. Big switch was on, but there were easier options available. Ultimately he didn’t complete a pass.”

You can understand why he was angry. Leeds had conceded another early goal, with Archie Gray maybe at fault. A game in which Leeds could and should have scored five or six, but we almost failed to win.
Decision making has not really been an issue this season but there were times when the Leeds players could have picked better choices on Saturday. Georgie Rutter through on goal, shooting to the left.
When surely, Rutter would have been better going to the right. Perhaps, forcing it when in possession given the slow start and then, wasteful with the pressure on. Bit of calmness is perhaps needed, now.
