Crysencio Summerville travelled to Plymouth on Tuesday night with boss Daniel Farke probably not intending to use him – but he was needed to push Leeds United into the fifth round of The FA Cup.
The 22-year-old has been sensational this season. Up there with one of the best players in the League, if not the best. He came off the bench to score our second and create our third, to beat Plymouth 4-1.
It sets up a clash against Chelsea in the fifth round, after Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Aston Villa on Wednesday night – winning 3-1. Summerville took his tally beyond 20 goals and assists on Tuesday.
Going into the game, he had 19 – 12 goals and seven assists. He added one of each and subsequently, did something that hasn’t been done since the 20-21 campaign. Reaching a landmark 20 involvements.
Indeed, the last time that was done was Patrick Bamford‘s incredible 20-21 campaign – in which the striker produced a whopping 25 involvements. The England man scored 17 goals, laying on eight more.

Easily, Bamford’s best-ever season and one that saw him break into the England set-up. Yes, it is in the Championship – but Summerville has broken that tally already, and we’ve only just entered February.
With another 16 League games and at least one more FA Cup game, Summerville will surely have a target in the mind – perhaps, 40 in all competitions, especially if Leeds go into the play-offs in May.
But there is no doubting that Summerville is on absolute fire. The fact he has done something no Leeds player has done in season since 2021 already, is a sign of just how good the attacker has been for us.
