The Colombian media have criticised Leeds United loanee Luis Sinisterra for his performance on international duty in the early hours of this morning.

Sinisterra was introduced as a 70th minute substitute in Colombia’s draw at Chile but should’ve been the match winner, with outlet AS left unimpressed at his decision making in the final third.

The 24-year-old had a golden opportunity to open the scoring with 15 minutes to play but fluffed his lines on not just one, but two occasions.

First, Sinisterra was unable to connect with Matheus Uribe’s cross from the right but got a lucky break as the ball dropped straight back to him inside the area with the goal gaping.

Instead of shooting, though, Sinisterra attempted to pass and saw it intercepted, much to the frustration of Colombian supporters and their media.

Writing in their post-match piece on each players’ performance, AS criticised Sinisterra for his inability to ‘finish the plays’ that could’ve earned them three points.

“He entered the 70th minute and missed the Colombian National Team’s clearest option. First he did not connect with Matheus Uribe’s centre and kicked into the air and then, in the same play, he preferred to make a back pass instead of finishing. He couldn’t finish the plays.”

Sinisterra can also consider himself extremely lucky the missed chance did not cost his side completely, as just moments later Chile went up the other end and scored, only for it to be chalked off by VAR.

It is surprising to see a player of Sinisterra’s quality make such a poor decision like that but Leeds fans everywhere will share a little smile at his disappointment.

Sinisterra left Leeds in controversial circumstances for Bournemouth on deadline day which has left a bitter taste in the mouth of many supporters.
