Leeds United’s defensive record has been immense this season and in any normal season, it would be the best in the Championship – but Burnley have had other ideas.

The race for promotion is hotting up with just 14 Championship games left to play, with all four sides that still have a chance of achieving a place in the top two winning their games over the last 48 hours.

Leeds smashed Watford to win 4-0 at Vicarage Road, piling the pressure on Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland ahead of their games on Wednesday night. But all three secured wins in the last 24 hours.

For Scott Parker’s Burnley, it wasn’t only another Championship win on Wednesday night. Their 2-0 win over Hull City was a record-breaking one, as Parker’s men kept a 10th Championship clean sheet in a row.

Connor Roberts starring as Burnley break Championship record

Just over a year ago, Leeds completed the loan signing of Wales star Connor Roberts from Burnley until the end of the season. A crucial addition with more cover required last term on the right side of defence.

But after 15 appearances for Leeds during the second half of last term, Roberts returned to Burnley and has started 26 of Burnley’s 32 Championship games. Indeed, he started all 10 of the record-breaking run.

Alongside Maxime Esteve and CJ Egan-Riley at centre-back and either Lucas Pires or Bashir Humphreys on the left, Burnley have not conceded now in 10 games with James Trafford starring between the sticks.

Roberts posts on Instagram after Burnley secure League record

Everyone knows that Burnley have conceded just nine goals all season, which is absolutely astounding. The star of the show has been James Trafford in goal, who is likely to get an England call-up next month.

Roberts posted on his Instagram story following Wednesday night’s win over Joe Gelhardt’s Hull City, in which Jaidon Anthony laid on an assist with Burnley duo with Humphreys and Zian Flemming scoring.

Luckily for Leeds, The Whites no longer have to face Burnley this season having drawn with Roberts’ side in January – with Roberts sending Leeds a message. Next up is Sunderland and then Sheffield United.
