German newspaper BILD claims that the ‘confusion’ surrounding Leeds United’s move for Nadiem Amiri is set to continue with Leeds hoping to have got a deal done today – but it looks unlikely at this stage.
Amiri is the subject of a move from Leeds with Daniel Farke key to negotiations for the Germany star. The 26-year-old performed a u-turn on Thursday, rejecting us before Farke’s admiration tempted him.
But as things stand today, Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he is in Leverkusen’s squad to take on Gladbach this weekend. He was a very late sub during last weekend’s 3-2 win over Leipzig.
Thursday ended with Leeds confirming Piroe, and a move for Amiri expected soon. But now, it seems a move may go into next week. BILD say confusion will continue. We hoped to strike a £5.1m deal today.

If Leeds have to wait until next week to get a deal over the line for Amiri then so be it. He is a player worth waiting for, he is a player that is worth accepting is going to have other offers. It does not matter.
He is the kind of player that could be the difference between promotion to the Premier League – and staying in the second tier for another year. We might not be first choice, but at least we are a choice.
So, while it is annoying not to get him today with everything seemingly agreed beforehand, it is worth waiting to secure Amiri’s services. The risk is, that Amiri plays well for Leverkusen and things change.
Leverkusen take on Gladbach – and against manager Gerardo Seoane, the gaffer that saw Amiri’s Bayer spell begin to struggle. He will feel like he has a point to prove. But he is unlikely to start for Alonso.
