Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has raved about Illan Meslier for his performance against Watford at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.

Illan Meslier was in action for Leeds United against Watford.

Daniel Farke’s side got the better of Watford 3-0 at home.

After a goalless first half, Joel Piroe put Leeds in the lead midway through the second period.

Sam Byram made it 2-0 to the West Yorkshire outfit on 70 minutes.

And then in the 89th minute, Jaidon Anthony wrapped up the points for the home team with the third goal.

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier did not have much to do in the game.

The £5 million (The Yorkshire Evening Post) goalkeeper was largely a spectator.

However, the Frenchman was called into action in the 95th minute when he had to make a very good save.

Farke told BBC Sport: “Illan [Meslier] was not much involved today but in the 95th minute he had to be there with a save to stay that concentrated and focused.”

Illan Meslier an important player for Leeds United

Illan Meslier did not have the best of campaigns for Leeds United last season, but the 23-year-old is doing well at the moment.

Leeds are starting to play some wonderful football and are picking up results.

We believe that the Whites are among the top candidates for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

And, in our view, Meslier will play his role.

The Frenchman has already played in the Championship before.

So, Meslier knows what to expect week in and week out.

We think that the 23-year-old will rise to the occasion.

Leeds are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 13 points from eight matches.

The Whites are eight points behind Leicester City and Ipswich Town, who are first and second respectively in the standings.
