Reports emerged last week that it was ‘inevitable’ Cody Drameh would leave Leeds United permanently at the end of the season – but now, Drameh has spoken out about his future with Luton Today, saying Leeds are “pleased”.

Drameh, 21, joined Championship side Luton on loan in January – in a similar move to the one that saw him go to Cardiff in January 2022. He starred for Cardiff during the second half of 21-22, winning the player of the year award.

Since joining Luton, he has impressed as well. Playing as a right-wing back, Drameh has clocked up 14 outings for Rob Edwards’ side – and Luton have lost just one of those matches. They have all but cemented their play-off place.

Indeed, they sit in third and with seventh-placed West Brom 12 points behind with only four games to go – Luton will certainly be in the top six come the end of the season. The Premier League is a real possibility for Drameh’s Luton.

In terms of his long-term future, the YEP reported last week that a permanent exit this summer was ‘inevitable’. A possible permanent move to Kenilworth Road looks good, possibly even if Luton do not go up. Drameh commented.

“There’s a loans manager called Andrew Taylor. We just keep in touch. He keeps me informed on how it’s going and just tells me what I can improve, and how my form is. We speak from time to time and they’ve been very pleased.”

Cody Drameh speaks out on Leeds future amid inevitable exit reports

Drameh is out of contract at Leeds in the summer of 2024 and this summer does look as though it is crunch time. In January, you would have suggested that a permanent exit was likely. Luke Ayling penned an extension until 2024.

But now, Ayling’s form has dipped and against Liverpool, he was axed from the side. Rasmus Kristensen has been in and out of the side in recent months. It might be that Leeds give Drameh a chance next season – if they are pleased.
