Class of 92 could be about to hire 43-year-old manager that left Leeds United in the summer

The turnover of managers and managerial staff at Leeds United throughout 2023 was aplenty. It has seen coaches come and go, and one of those is Karl Robinson – and he is finally in line for a return.

The 43-year-old boasts an excellent CV. During the 2022-23 season, he was in charge at Oxford United before joining boss Sam Allardyce as his assistant for the final four games of the season at Elland Road.

He failed, with Allardyce and Robbie Keane, to keep Leeds up. Keane has since gone to Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, where he is impressing as gaffer. Allardyce is yet to take a new role, returning to his podcast.

Robinson has been linked with a number of jobs. A gaffer that is six games shy of clocking up a massive 700 games in the Football League as a manager, and a promotion at MK Dons to the Championship.

But he is yet to find the right job for him, until perhaps, now. That is because The Sun’s Alan Nixon says on his Patreon channel that Robinson could join Salford City – owned of course, by the Class of ’92.

David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes co-own the League Two side – who knocked Leeds out of the Carabao Cup earlier, on penalties. They’re really struggling.

Manager Neil Wood was sacked before the New Year, and Robinson has been identified as a possible replacement. Salford are in talks with Robinson, who sit 21st despite Matt Smith’s 15 goals in 30 games.
