In a summer full of good signings for Leeds United it is difficult to argue against Ethan Ampadu being the best one.
The 23-year-old arrived from Chelsea in July for around £7 million and immediately looked right at home in pre-season, catching the eye of Michael Bridges on the Official Leeds United Podcast.
Bridges was speaking after Leeds‘ final pre-season friendly of the summer at Hearts, where he shared his delight at how quickly Ampadu looked as though he’d fit in.

He said: “I think you have to look at the signings we’ve made, Darlow has come in from Newcastle and I think Ampadu, for me he’s a class act, he’s looked great in the pre-season games, he looks like he’s adapted straight away.”
Ampadu has play every minute of every game across league and cup, standing out in midfield in almost every game so far.
Ampadu has proven Bridges pre-season comments right
During the 2019/20 promotion season, Leeds had Kalvin Phillips controlling things from the centre of the park and from the early evidence so far, Ampadu is looking every bit as good.
He often looks a class above most he is coming up against, possessing an incredible ability to know where to be to snuff out danger and get Leeds back on the front foot.

Ampadu is extremely tidy in possession but also has that little bit of aggression needed to succeed playing as a midfielder at this level.
Despite his age, Ampadu already looks like one of the leaders in Daniel Farke’s squad, constantly barking orders to the rest of his teammates.
At just £7 million, Ampadu is looking like a serious snip and if Leeds are to get promoted, you would no qualms about whether he can make the step up.
