John Hartson suggested Leeds United should sign Celtic midfielder David Turnbull before the start of the January window – but now, the Scotland playmaker is off to Championship rivals Cardiff City.
Despite his seven goals in 19 games this season, and his 54 goal involvements in 134 games for Celtic, Scotland star Turnbull finds himself in the final six months of his contract at Parkhead. He is set to go.
A player renowned for his ability to shoot from long range, create something out of nothing or even his ability from set-pieces – Turnbull is a top talent and it is a surprise to see him being pushed out at Celtic.
So much so, that Celtic icon Hartson commented on his future and said back in December that Turnbull would join a big club in the Championship – naming Leeds. Now, he is on his way to the Championship.

The Mail report that Turnbull is close to a £2m move to Cardiff. A player that would have certainly done a job at Leeds, especially given we failed to sign a no.10 in the summer. Nadiem Amiri has gone to Mainz.
What it is though, is a brilliant addition over at Cardiff. Turnbull is easily capable of shining in the Premier League, his technical ability is excellent. Cardiff have improved this season after struggling last term.
They sit in 14th place, only seven points behind the play-offs. The signing of Turnbull, if he can stay fit, could push Cardiff closer to the top six. Play-offs are unlikely, but Turnbull will surely push them close.
