Leicester City have now joined the race to sign Leeds United target Amad Diallo from Manchester United this summer.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who report Leicester are lining up a move for Diallo as a possible replacement for Harvey Barnes, who is set to join Newcastle United.
The Magpies are said to have had a breakthrough in talks over the signing of Barnes in recent days with Allan Saint-Maximin on the verge of becoming the latest player to move to Saudi Arabia.
Having already lost James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, Barnes’ exit will leave Leicester desperately short of attacking quality in those positions behind the striker.
As such, Leicester have identified Diallo as someone who can help replace the creativity, with fellow relegated clubs Leeds and Southampton also having been linked.
Leicester eye move for Diallo amid Leeds links
Diallo is currently heavily involved in Man United’s pre-season and incidentally, played 45 minutes of their 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo last week.
However, due to the vast amount of competition Man United have in his position, he could be sent out on loan again, having shone at Sunderland last season.
Diallo netted 14 goals for the Black Cats to help them reach the play-offs, with manager Tony Mowbray describing him as an ‘amazing player’.
However, given how much he shone in the second tier, it remains to be seen whether Man United will sanction another Championship loan, with the Premier League instead potentially the next logical step in his development.
From a Leeds perspective, it is difficult to see them moving on Diallo unless at least two of their current crop of wingers depart, which is comfortably the strongest position in Daniel Farke’s side right now.
