How do the Championship play-offs work?
The Championship play-offs are set up with four teams, which finished from third down to sixth in the table over the regulation season.
There are two semi-finals, played home and away for each team, before the final – hosted at Wembley Stadium.
Matches are decided by league position, with third taking on sixth and fourth facing fifth.

The EFL have confirmed the dates for the 2024 Championship play-offs, including times for the semi-finals and final. They are as follows:
- Championship play-off semi-final A first leg (sixth vs third) – Sunday, 12 May, 12:30pm.
- Championship play-off semi-final B first leg (fifth vs fourth) – Monday, 13 May, 8:00pm.
- Championship play-off semi-final A second leg (third vs sixth) – Thursday, 16 May, 8:00pm.
- Championship play-off semi-final B second leg (fourth vs fifth) – Friday, 17 May, 8:00pm.
- Championship play-off final (winner of A vs winner of B) – Sunday, 26 May, kick-off time TBC.
How to watch Championship play-offs, TV details and live stream
The EFL is broadcasted by Sky Sports as the exclusive rights holders in the UK, meaning all the play-offs will be shown on their channels.
This is only available through a Sky Sports subscription, while the matches can be live-streamed with their dedicated Sky Go app.
