Blackburn Rovers midfielder Lewis Travis has been previewing his side’s upcoming meeting with Leeds United.
Leeds round off a busy week of three matches in just six days at Ewood Park looking to make it nine points from a possible nine available.
However, they will be facing a Blackburn side full of confidence after they defeated one of the Championship’s most in-form teams away from home on Wednesday night in Middlesbrough.
Rovers boss John Eustace certainly knows what it takes to beat Daniel Farke‘s Leeds, having done so twice by a 1-0 score-line last season, though the first time was with Birmingham City.
Incidentally, Travis was also part of the Ipswich squad that pipped Leeds to promotion back in May, after joining on loan for the rest of the season in January.
Travis makes Leeds claim ahead of Blackburn clash
Travis was actually speaking to rovers.co.uk before their trip to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night, where the prospect of facing Leeds was also discussed.
Luton boss Rob Edwards was the latest member of the opposition to hail Leeds as the best side in the division, and Travis shares a similar opinion.
Leeds head into the set of weekend fixtures sat top of the Championship but know they will start tomorrow’s match in second regardless of the result in Sheffield United against Sunderland on Friday night.
And even though Travis believes are ‘one of the best teams’ in the Championship, he has insisted Rovers will look to attack the game.
Speaking on November 27, he said: “I think Middlesbrough are the team with the best form in the league at the moment. We’ll go and attack that game. We’ve had a break and we want to get that out of our system.
“Leeds are probably one of the best teams in the league and I think it’s good to test ourselves against those sort of sides. We won’t play with fear, we’ll attack both games and see where we’re at.”
Blackburn trio ruled out of Leeds clash
Farke revealed Sam Byram as the only potential injury doubt for the trip to Ewood Park, as Leeds await the results of his scan on a potential hamstring issue.
As for Rovers, Eustace has already confirmed they will be without three players for the match, including Andreas Weimann, who has four goals this season. Balasz Toth and Arnor Sigurdsson are also out.
Eustance told rovers.co.uk: “Andi’s been playing the last four or five games with a knee injury, which swelled up a little bit on Tuesday. We’re not taking any risks with him, we’ve got it scanned and he’s unfortunately going to be out for a couple of weeks, but it could have been a lot worse.
“That shows Andi, with his experience and quality, and how he was getting through games. His work ethic has been great and we’ll get him rested and ready to get back to full fitness.
“He’s [Toth] going to be three or four weeks and that’s going to be a blow for us. Siggy came back from his injury last week and just pulled up a little bit. He’s going to be another couple of weeks.”
