Junior Firpo continued his excellent run of form on Wednesday night as Leeds United secured a fifth win in a row – and Leigh Bromby believes he has been like a “new signing” for Daniel Farke’s side.

Firpo, 27, came into the starting line-up in the win over Birmingham City at the start of the month and has retained his place in the starting line-up. Firpo has started all five wins, including last night’s victory.

A 1-0 win over Norwich, that not only saw Firpo impress – but also Patrick Bamford. He headed home a fourth goal in five games, to secure all three points. Bamford and Firpo are back after frustrating spells.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after Leeds’ 1-0 win over Norwich, former Whites defender Bromby said that Firpo will be delighting his boss because he is like a “new signing” – understanding the criticism.

“He was excellent. He actually got the team going in the second half with some fantastic tackles, driving forward, he had a couple of shots – really well done to him, and a really good performance.” he said.

“I know there has been a lot of criticism – there have been injuries. It comes to consistency, if you’re going to perform, you need routine. The manager must be pleased because he’s like a new signing.”

Leigh Bromby says Junior Firpo is like a new signing for Leeds

He has been excellent over the course of the last few weeks and is finally beginning to show the kind of form that Leeds thought they might get from Firpo, when he joined the club back in the summer of 2021.

Daniel Farke was full of praise for Firpo after the full-time whistle, while Firpo himself said he is happier than ever at Leeds. Hopefully, this is a start of a good run and Firpo stays fit until the end of the season.
