‘Bad blood’… Phil Hay discusses reports that 24-year-old could return to Leeds United in January

Reports have emerged this month suggesting that Luis Sinisterra could return to Leeds United in January from Bournemouth a few months after going on loan there – and Phil Hay has commented.

Sinisterra, 24, left Leeds as the last of eight players to use the relegation loan clause in the summer to get out of Elland Road. Like, Marc Roca, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson.

The Colombia star played for Leeds four times before moving to Bournemouth this season, having only managed 22 outings last term – with injury hampering his progress. He scored eight goals in those 26.

At Bournemouth, injury has also played a part – limiting him to nine games. He has scored one goal, and laid on one assist, so far. It is claimed that Sinisterra could leave Bournemouth and return to Elland Road.

Asked about those reports on The Square Ball, Hay responded by stating the noise from Bournemouth’s end is that Sinisterra will not be leaving in January. If he does come back, he cannot go anywhere else.

“From the Bournemouth end, nobody seems to think Sinisterra will be coming back. You’d know from the conversation with Angus Kinnear, there is bad blood caused by the way it ended in the summer.”

It would be a surprise. A surprise for two reasons – that Sinisterra would rip up his Bournemouth loan after such a brutal exit, which Angus Kinnear stated that he and Tyler Adams won’t get Christmas cards.

But secondly, because if Sinisterra was to return – he’d have to play for Leeds. Players cannot play for more than two clubs in a season. He’s played for Leeds and Bournemouth, those are his two options.

So, it is more than likely that Sinisterra remains at Bournemouth in January and a decision on his future is made next summer. Whether or not he is given a second chance at Leeds remains to be seen.
