Angus Kinnear has broken silence on the summer ongoings at Leeds United and has delivered his take on manager Daniel Farke, after he failed to deliver promotion in his first season.

Leeds endured a difficult summer. Prior release clauses haunted Leeds again while Profit & Sustainability Rules saw The Whites forced into the sale of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville during the summer.

Georginio Rutter, too. It comes after Leeds failed to gain promotion to the Premier League and had Leeds beaten Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley, those players would have surely stayed at Leeds.

But Adam Armstrong’s goal succumbed Leeds to another season in the Championship, while The Saints gained promotion the Premier League. Some criticism has been levelled at Farke for his role in that.

Angus Kinnear shares Leeds position on Farke after play-off final

CEO Kinnear gave an interview to The Square Ball this week after the summer’s developments and he shared Leeds’ position on Farke and it sounds like his job security is as high as it can be right now.

“Daniel is incredibly collaborative. We’re very lucky to have him as a manager. He’s been really balanced, he gets the results and he works the floor. He’s an exceptionally talented manager,” Kinnear said.

“Which is why he’s proven to be one of the best at this level. He’s exactly the right manager for where Leeds United are now,” the Leeds chief continued in an in-depth interview with The Square Ball.

Farke is in make-or-break position now after last season’s failure

Many times last season, Farke made it clear that last season it would be a surprise if Leeds went up. But he still managed to accumulate 90 points and go within an inch of clawing Leeds back to the top tier.

This season, Farke has lost three crucial players and Glen Kamara, too. But, if Farke fails to get Leeds up this season then the German manager will surely find himself in a position where he could be sacked.

Farke and Leeds have made a solid start to the Championship season this time around, with eight points from four games. On Saturday, Leeds face their toughest test yet, as they play Burnley at Elland Road.
