Leeds United fans were gutted to see Archie Gray leave the club in the summer following the teenager’s breakthrough campaign last season.
Archie was the latest of the Gray family dynasty to make an impact at Elland Road, as the youngster followed in the footsteps of his father Andy, granddad Frank and his great uncle and club icon Eddie by turning out for Leeds.
While the England under-21 international’s £30million sale to Tottenham was perhaps inevitable given Gray’s ability and promise, it stung for Leeds supporters who had hoped to see Archie in a white shirt for more than just one season.
Leeds do have another Gray working his way through the Thorp Arch academy however, as Archie’s younger brother Harry has been making progress in the youth set-up and was included in the first-team’s pre-season programme this summer.

Archie Gray shares ‘funny’ recent moment with Leeds United fans
Archie also revealed a hilarious story of how he was mistaken for his younger brother in a recent return to Leeds.
“I haven’t told him this actually, it was quite funny,” Archie told Spurs’ YouTube channel. “I went back to Leeds a few weeks ago, I went to the city centre. I think I was with Ethan Ampadu.
“Some Leeds fans came up to him and said, Ethan, can I get a photo and I was just stood there. They were like, ‘oh hi Harry’. And I was like, ‘there’s no way these kids have just called me Harry! ‘
“I didn’t know what to think. It was an experience.”
How Archie and Harry pushed each other on
Harry is two years younger than Archie and the elder sibling has discussed how the pair’s competitive edge meant they were able to push each other growing up.
“We were very competitive,” Archie continued. “Especially when we were younger, it would always end in tears in the garden. he would try and kick lumps out of me, I’d try and do the same thing.
| Player | Dates | Appearances |
| Eddie Gray | 1965-1984 | 579 |
| Frank Gray | 1970-1979, 1981-1985 | 407 |
| Andrew Gray | 1995-1998, 2012-2013 | 38 |
| Archie Gray | 2021-2024 | 52 |
“It’s good to always have that competitiveness, especially when we went to family meals, we were always getting compared to each other and it was always, right I need to do better than him and he’d always do the same thing.”
Harry has been sidelined with injury since his pre-season taste of first-team football and is yet to feature this term, while Archie has been a regular for Spurs in the Carabao Cup and Europa League so far this season and has made five Premier League appearances off the bench.
