Andrea Radrizzani’s Sampdoria are among a host of clubs interested in a loan deal for Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph.
That is according to Marca, who report clubs from England, Italy, Germany and France are all interested in the 19-year-old this summer as a result of an impressive campaign for Leeds’ U21s last season.
Swansea City, Wolfsburg, and the aforementioned Sampdoria are all mentioned as potential destinations for Joseph, though there are more unnamed clubs in the hunt.
Joseph is attracting suitors from across Europe after netting 16 goals in Premier League 2 last term in what was his first full season in English football.
He also impressed on the international stage for England at the U20s World Cup in May after being rewarded with a handful of appearances for Leeds’ first team.
Radrizzani among club’s keen on Leeds’ Joseph
Joseph featured heavily in pre-season under Daniel Farke as he appeared in all four of Leeds’ friendly matches against Manchester United, Monaco, Nottingham Forest and Hearts.
It now appears as though he could be set for some sort of first team role at Elland Road this season, and the door maybe open for his first league start on Sunday.
Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter are both doubtful after picking up injuries in Leeds’ final pre-season game in Scotland, leaving Farke without a fit senior recognised striker.
As per Marca, once his role in the squad under Farke becomes clear before the end of the window, it will provide a clearer idea as to whether he leaves on loan.
Leeds remain in the market for a new number nine which could restrict Joseph’s minutes.
