Sampdoria believe they can sign Leeds United defender Diogo Monteiro on loan this summer.
That is according to Samp News 24, who report Andrea Radrizzani is hopeful of agreeing a ‘flexible formula’ for the 18-year-old, with Sampdoria continuing to keep an eye on his situation.
Monteiro is one of a number of names Sampdoria are said to be considering to strengthen at centre-back, with Xavier Mbuyamba of Volendam and Pantelis Hatzidiakos of AZ Alkmaar also among them.
As per the report, Leeds may even be open to negotiating an option-to-buy in any potential loan deal, despite having only arrived in January earlier this year.
Radrizzani and Victor Orta were the men to bring Monteiro to Elland Road, signing him from Swiss outfit Servette, though he is yet to appear for Leeds’ first team.

Monteiro has so far not been involved in any of Leeds’ pre-season matches under Daniel Farke, despite a number of youngsters having been handed an opportunity.
That would clearly indicate he does not feature as part of Farke’s plans this season, meaning a loan deal could be hugely beneficial for all parties.
That said, Monteiro arrived at Leeds in January with plenty of potential having featured for Servette’s first team, and it would be a shame to give up on him so early.
So, with that in mind, an option-to-buy is something that Leeds shouldn’t really be considering so they can take a proper look at him in senior football.
Whether Leeds would be willing to do Radrizzani a favour, though, remains to be seen.
