Pundits Tony Cascarino and Ally McCoist are both in agreement over Leeds United’s chances of continuing their strong run of home form against Manchester United.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United side are full of confidence heading into the game against their arch-rivals, having enjoyed a strong run of recent form.

Leeds secured a valuable point at Anfield to prepare for their game against Manchester United, as Farke looks to become the first manager since Simon Grayson to beat the Red Devils.

However, he will have to do so without influential captain Ethan Ampadu, whose controversial booking against Liverpool ruled him out of the game through suspension. Leeds’ chances will be further damaged by the absence of Joe Rodon.

Despite this, Leeds have received the backing of multiple pundits, as both McCoist and Cascarino have now tipped Farke’s side to pull off a victory.

How costly will Ethan Ampadu’s absence be against Man U?

Ally McCoist backs Leeds United to beat Manchester United

Leeds can climb above Bournemouth into 15th place in the Premier League table with a win over Man Utd, and open up a 10-point gap on West Ham in 18th place in the process.

Alan Shearer backed Leeds to pick up a result against Ruben Amorim’s side, and Ally McCoist agrees with this assessment.

Speaking to TNT Sports, McCoist said: “It’s a tough one to call, Leeds’ form recently has been fantastic, a great point at Anfield.

“Manchester United, as usual, up and down. I can see Leeds winning this one at home,” predicting that Farke’s side will pick up a 2-1 victory.

Tony Cascarino believes Leeds United ‘have the edge’

Speaking to TalkSport on the morning of 4th January, Cascarino echoed McCoist’s suggestion that Leeds could pull off another surprise Premier League result.

Rio Ferdinand warned Man Utd to expect a hostile reception at Elland Road, and Cascarino backed Leeds’ home crowd to help them against their rivals from across the Pennines.

Have YOU forgiven Rio Ferdinand for his move to Manchester United? 🤔

The controversial 2002 transfer is clearly still on HIS mind… 🧠

Cascarino said: “With the inconsistency of Manchester United, you just have no idea the level of performance they’re capable of.

“I think if Leeds get it right, I can see the two up front, especially Calvert-Lewin, causing that United back three, if they go back three, because obviously that’s been changing in recent weeks. I think they might just have the edge.”
