Alan Shearer has claimed in his Premier League Team of the Week column that Jack Harrison is the man that will keep Leeds United in the Premier League – if the Whites do end up surviving the drop come the end of the season.
Harrison, 26, is rediscovering his form under Javi Gracia after nearly joining Leicester City on deadline day. Perhaps, understandably, it might have affected him slightly. But now, with Gracia in the dugout, Harrison is back in form.
Despite his own goal against Brighton which Michael Owen even suggests was a foul by Solly March, Harrison got a goal and an assist in the draw. Then on Saturday, he opened the scoring. It was his cross for Rasmus Kristensen.
He is calling the shots in a Leeds shirt right now, proving both creative and scoring goals. Shearer included Harrison in his Premier League Team of the Week – claiming if Leeds are going to stay up, Harrison can be the difference.
“After going so close to leaving Leeds in January, he could be the one to keep them in the Premier League,” Shearer said following our 4-2 win over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, in which Harrison netted his fourth of the season.

While Harrison is guilty of going in and out of form, it does seem that with every season – the ex-Manchester City man gets better and better. Gracia spoke after the win, claiming that Harrison is the “present and future” of Leeds.
Yes, he does not do it as often as some Leeds fans would like. But Harrison is capable of changing a game, whether it be a cross, an incisive pass like his assist for Rodrigo against West Ham – or a bit of skill on the left. He is crucial.
