Sunday’s defeat to Portsmouth saw Leeds United’s unbeaten run of 17 matches come to an abrupt halt and at the worst time, with Sheffield United and Burnley both winning the day before.
Leeds remain in first place but only because of their vastly superior goal difference. A tally that is better than double that of Sheffield United, but that could all change on Tuesday night with Leeds not in action.
Sheffield United and Burnley face Bristol City and West Brom this evening. If The Blades avoid defeat, they will leapfrog Leeds into first place while Burnley beating West Brom could see Leeds reduced to third.
Of course, if Leeds retalliate with a win against Millwall then The Whites return to the top of the pile. But it is more pressure on Daniel Farke’s side ahead of two key games against London sides Millwall and QPR.

Alan Pardew thinks Leeds United will still be promoted
So, it is 30 points to play for. At this stage last season, Leeds also had 76 points but went on a dismal run of winning just 14 points in the last 10 games and if Leeds do that this time, they will be in the play-offs.
Alan Pardew has been speaking about the Championship promotion race, and he was asked if he thinks Leeds United will be promoted to the Premier League. Having watched Leeds, Pardew remains confident.
He told TalkSPORT: It’s a three horse race, there’s no doubt about that. So that’s the good news. When I saw Leeds play the other day I really thought, they’re ready this year. I think they will do it.”
The Leeds squad remain cool, calm and collected at Elland Road
Farke’s ability to remain steady in the face of either delirium or adversity remained despite defeat to Portsmouth. He was asked if there would be an implosion like last season, to which he quickly said no.
Farke knew Portsmouth would be a tough task away from home given their home record, while Ethan Ampadu has shared how the Leeds squad are feeling amid the pressures of the chase for promotion.
But the fact of the matter is this. Farke can remain calm, Ampadu can try to remove some pressure. But the only thing that can help Leeds is a win against Millwall on Wednesday, and a win at QPR on Saturday.
