Daniel Farke was driving Leeds fans to the point of immense frustration.
The German continually selected Brenden Aaronson despite consistently underwhelming performances, with fans particularly losing their cool upon seeing the American start the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa recently.
It was as if the United States international was bulletproof no matter how poorly he performed.
Now, however, Aidy White has predicted Leeds fans will get their wish, as he opines that Daniel Farke will keep overlooking Aaronson after completely ignoring him for the 3-1 win over Chelsea.
Aidy White feels Brenden Aaronson is set for a spell on the sidelines
The man who made 110 appearances during his time at Elland Road told BBC Radio Leeds that the new 3-5-2 formation is bad news for the man born in Medford.
White said: “Everybody’s got their role in the team and I don’t think he necessarily fits into that formation at the minute, Aaronson, but…you know, the season will see twists and changes. I’m sure that at some point he’ll have another run of games because he’s obviously highly rated by the manager.”
Leeds United fans told they’re being unfair on Brenden Aaronson 🗣️
As aforesaid, the Leeds No.11 was completely ignored on Wednesday during the 3-1 win over Chelsea, as Farke opted to leave him on the bench.
It was the first Premier League game this season that the 25-year-old failed to play a single second.
This new 3-5-2 formation has no space for a natural No.10 in attacking midfield, nor does it accommodate a traditional winger, both of which are the only positions Aaronson has played in for Leeds.
| Position | Games | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attacking Midfield | 169 | 21 | 22 |
| Left Midfield | 32 | 7 | 5 |
| Right Winger | 16 | 1 | 0 |
| Central Midfield | 16 | 1 | 1 |
| Right Midfield | 9 | 1 | 3 |
| Centre-Forward | 5 | 0 | 1 |
| Left Winger | 1 | 1 | 0 |
Daniel Farke should try Brenden Aaronson out in a new position at Thorp Arch
If Farke keeps using his 3-5-2 formation, he should consider trying to mould Aaronson into a striker during training at Thorp Arch.
Aaronson tends to struggle in particular when it comes to releasing the ball at the right time and often running into trouble, regularly losing possession to the dismay of fans.

The likes of Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto are struggling to force their way into Farke's plans.
He also simply lacks the pace needed to be a threat out wide in English football.
Therefore, Farke could get more out of Aaronson by simply putting him closer to goal as a striker, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Lukas Nmecha need a rest.
That’s not to say he should be introduced ahead of Joel Piroe from the bench, but unless Farke finds a new way to use Aaronson, we can’t see how else he’ll play for Leeds again if the 3-5-2 system remains.
