Sean McGurk completed a permanent exit from Leeds United in a surprise move to League Two side Swindon Town and made his debut on Saturday – prompting Adam Forshaw to react on Instagram.
McGurk, 20, left Leeds for the County Ground in what was a surprise move. Leeds had announced the signing of Connor Roberts after the 11pm deadline, but that wasn’t the only move the Whites confirmed.
Indeed, after the furore of Roberts signing on loan from Burnley, Leeds then announced a bit of surprise news in that McGurk had joined Swindon. He has been used in senior training, but never made a debut.
McGurk has impressed for the 21’s this season and with Ian Poveda leaving for Sheffield Wednesday, there might have been a gap in the matchday squad for McGurk to exploit. He left for Swindon instead.
The young playmaker came on for the final 20 minutes during a 2-1 loss to Newport County on Saturday, and then took to Instagram – underlining his pride at finally making his professional debut for Swindon.

While it a shame that a player of McGurk’s quality has left Leeds without ever being given a chance at senior level, it is good to see that he is finally showing what he could have been capable of at Leeds.
You just hope that the midfielder, signed from Wigan, has a buyback clause or some form of option that allows us to buy him back if he shows the necessary quality. Now, he has the platform to go and shine.
Plenty responded to his debut for Swindon including Plymouth midfielder Adam Forshaw, who posted a five-word message to his fellow Scouser. Jamie Carragher also commented on the player’s Instagram.
