‘A good relationship’: Daniel Farke shares who is he is already close to at Leeds

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has already ‘spoken intensively’ with Nick Hammond about potential transfer activity this summer.

Farke was speaking in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post following his appointment as manager on Tuesday evening, where he explained the conversations he has had with Hammond in recent weeks.

Hammond is set to play a key role at Leeds in the next two months after being named as the club’s interim football advisor until the end of the transfer window.

That means he will be having a big say in who comes in and out of Elland Road, working closely with Farke to ensure he is left with the squad he wants by the end of August.

Farke was also quick to make it clear he would be Leeds’ new manager rather than head coach, indicating his desire to have a big say on everything that goes on around the club.

Farke shares Hammond conversations on transfer window

Despite having only officially arrived at Leeds yesterday, Farke and Hammond have already been conversing at what sort of transfer activity needs to take place in the coming weeks.

He said: “We’ve had some really good conversations and spoken intensively about the squad. Always after relegation there’s, let’s say a little bit of a hangover for each and every club and many decisions have to be made. Obviously the group right now will not be the group at the end of August.

“So we need some good decisions with outgoings and incomings and Nick will play a pivotal role during this upcoming period. And it’s important that we don’t just start today with some talks, but we had also the chance in the recent days in order to speak quite intensively from all this.

“From now on we can make some decisions and yes, but so far, so good. And we have a good relationship so far and I’m quite confident that he will be a big help. The transfer window will end on the final day.

“So we’ll be busy for two months, but I’m quite confident we’ll have a good team in the end and I’m quite confident that we can play a significant role in the upcoming season.”

Clearly the two are already putting the building blocks in place for the summer window, which can’t really get going until the EFL approve San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover.

The fact they have already built a strong relationship is a good sign for the coming weeks, as everyone will need to be on the same page to ensure the summer transfer window is as productive as it can be.
