£6m player wants to leave on deadline day after last-minute bid from Leeds United

Leeds United made a loan bid for Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall on Wednesday night but it has been rejected with Forest eyeing a permanent sale. That is despite Worrall being keen to go.

Worrall, 27, has fallen down the pecking order over at The City Ground this season. It comes after a wonderful couple of years for Forest – captaining them to promotion, and then Premier League safety.

But the likes of Willy Boly, Murillo and other central defenders have pushed ahead of the England U21 man, especially since the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as manager, replacing Steve Cooper.

Leeds made a bid to bring Worrall to Elland Road on Wednesday night, as did Sheffield United. But, Forest rejected both offers for the former Rangers loanee. That is because Forest want a £6m sale.

Now, TeamTalk have an update. They say that Forest do want a permanent sale and it will be up to Leeds to stump up the cash. But, that Worrall is keen on a move away from the City Ground on deadline day.

It is interesting that Leeds are still showing interest in central defenders. Mason Holgate, who is on loan at Southampton from Everton, has emerged as a possible contender. Connor Roberts is on his way.

Whether Leeds have the cash to go and spend on deadline day remains to be seen. As things stand, you would imagine Leeds will only be in the market for loan signings simply because it is quicker to get done.
