Leeds United were one of a number of clubs linked with a move for target man Kieffer Moore in the January window but he moved to rivals Ipswich – and he scored a brace on his debut on Saturday.
Moore, 31, returned to Ipswich having spent a year on the books at Portman Road between 2017 and 2018. He failed to score in 11 games beforehand, but has since improved from his spell over at Ipswich.
A Premier League striker with 40 caps for his country, Moore was in demand during January. Through no fault of his own, he was struggling for game time at Bournemouth. Dom Solanke’s form has been super.
Moore had the pick of a number of Championship clubs. Leeds were one of those aware that the £40k-a-week star could go on loan. Sunderland at one point were leading the race for the striker last month.
But he moved to Ipswich, returning to Portman Road after six years away. With Preston leading 3-0 at half-time on Saturday, Kieran McKenna threw Moore on at half-time and he scored twice – losing 3-2.

Moore is a top player at this level. He’s had a hand in 63 goals in 156 Championship games, throughout his career. So, he is a top addition for a club that needed more fire power in the final third, like Ipswich.
Have Leeds missed out? Well, Leeds didn’t need a striker. Of all the positions in the squad, a no.9 is the last position we needed to strengthen. We have Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and more.
So, Moore is a top player at this level but Leeds didn’t need him. However, he might just give Ipswich a big chance of achieving a place in the top two come the end of the current Championship campaign.
