Phil Hay has reported that Tyler Adams has undergone surgery on his hamstring and Leeds United need a midfielder to help them between now and the end of the season – and Sam Greenwood could answer Javi Gracia’s prayers.
Adams, 24, picked up the muscle injury in training prior to the win over Wolves and it saw him miss the 4-2 win. It saw him remain in Yorkshire, and not join Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson in representing their country.
With Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas still injured, and now Adams out – Leeds need midfield aid. Even McKennie is said to be suffering with the flu, despite playing 92 minutes on Monday night in a 1-0 win over El Salvador for USA.
While McKennie and Marc Roca are likely to be the duo that start at Arsenal on Saturday, Leeds are seriously lacking cover and with seven League games in April – depth is key. £3m man Greenwood could be the man to save Leeds.

Adams has surgery: Leeds need Greenwood to answer Gracia’s prayers
Last season, Greenwood started the last game of the season – a crucial match – in the middle of the park alongside Kalvin Phillips. A rookie, that is naturally a striker or a no.10. But he was arguably one of our best players on the day.
Speaking about Adams’ absence in the press conference prior to Wolves, Gracia said that Archie Gray and Darko Gyabi could come in. But Gray is yet to make his senior debut and Gyabi is still a rookie, despite his £5m price tag.
Leeds need a more-senior player to come in and aid their midfield issues and Greenwood could be the man. He is yet to start under Gracia – indeed, he has only played 10 minutes under the Spaniard. But he has the experience.
Certainly, compared to Gyabi and Gray. He has also shown that he can play under intense pressure in a relegation scrap as he did against Brentford in that 2-1 win. If Leeds need a midfielder, Greenwood can help Gracia.
