Phil Hay has reported on The Athletic’s website that Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has undergone surgery on his hamstring and is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines – but it remains unclear how long he will be missing.
Adams, 24, has been a mainstay for Leeds since joining the club from Leipzig last summer. Having captained USA at the World Cup in Qatar, the midfielder has been a constant cog of the Leeds midfield in recent weeks and months.
But ahead of the win over Wolves last time out, Leeds reported that Adams had picked up a hamstring injury. Then, this week, rumours began to surface on social media that the midfielder had an operation on the muscle issue.
Hay reports that that is now true, going under the knife in England. Leeds are expected to complete further scans next week to determine how long Adams will now be on the sidelines – and if he will be missing for the rest of 22-23.

A bitter blow. With the international break seeing Max Wober and Willy Gnonto picking up knocks, Adams has now been ruled out for a sustained period. As Hay states, it is unclear if he will be missing for a few weeks – or longer.
But what is clear, is that Adams will not be available for the next few games – missing against Arsenal, Forest and then Palace. Leeds do have cover in the name of Weston McKennie and Marc Roca in the middle of the park.
But the cover is lacking. Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw are both out with injuries. Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray are the next in line – but both are seriously unproven. Sam Greenwood can also play in that role, doing so last season.
