26-year-old who has left Leeds on loan says talks are already underway over a permanent deal

Marc Roca has claimed his representatives are already in talks over a permanent move to Real Betis from Leeds United.

Roca was speaking in an interview with Marca, where he expressed his gratitude at his warm welcome to Betis, before then discussing his plans for the future.

The 26-year-old is one of five players who have departed Elland Road on loan this summer following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson have all also sealed temporary moves away from the Whites, exercising the clause in their contract that became active after relegation.

Of those five loans, there isn’t a single one which includes an option-to-buy, though it is certain Koch will not be returning with his contract expiring next summer.

Roca’s agents already in talks over permanent switch to Betis

Roca has only been at Betis for just over a week but has confirmed talks are underway over him making the move permanent.

He said: “I know that they have all made an effort for me to be here. I am very happy, I have had a very warm reception from my teammates, I am where I want to be, I promise work, commitment and effort to the maximum, I hope we meet the objectives because Betis is a great team, and we are very hungry for victories.

“In the end, I like to live in the present. Right now, the club is talking with my agents to see how we can agree all the details with Leeds. I don’t take it; I focus on training, and I leave it to them. This year I’m going to give my best and I feel prepared and with a lot of commitment.”

It was widely expected Roca’s loan move would include the option for a permanent deal, though for whatever reason the two clubs could not agree on a future fee.

However, with the way Roca wrote his goodbye message on Instagram, it is difficult to see him returning to Elland Road regardless of whether Leeds win promotion.

Talks appear likely to continue throughout the season so Roca can make his move to Betis permanent in 12 months’ time.
