Jhon Arias continues to be linked with a move to English football after a wonderful 2023 campaign in Brazil, and the new Leeds United target caught the eye again in the Club World Cup on Monday.
Arias, 26, has been on fire for Fluminese this season. Winning the Copa Libertadores during 2023, the Colombian has remained a key figure throughout 2023 – clocking up his 60th appearance on Monday.
He has 29 goals and assists this campaign already – scoring his 12th goal of the campaign this week. The Brazilian side took on Egyptian side Al Ahly in their first Club World Cup game on Monday night.
Colombia star Arias started, in a side that also contained midfielder Andre who has been linked with a move to the Premier League. Also, veteran defenders Felipe Melo and Marcelo, a Real Madrid legend.
Fluminense secured a 2-0 win over the Egyptians. It was Marcelo that provided the moment of magic, nutmegging a defender to win a penalty – which Arias duly dispatched, before Fluminense got a second.

It sees Fluminense advance to the final where they will face either Manchester City, or Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds. It could be Arias’ last game for the Brazilian side, with English clubs interested.
Reports have stated that West Ham, Rangers and Leeds are among the clubs looking to land the South American in January. Earlier this week, he spoke about potentially leaving come the January window.
It is unclear how much Fluminense would be charging for Arias but what is for sure, is that his value is only going to grow while he is scoring goals – if only, a penalty – in the Club World Cup. A top player.
