Leeds United have a number of players that are set to see their contracts expire in the summer and one of those is Cody Drameh – who is still out on loan at Birmingham City, with a decision to make.
Drameh, 22, has been the subject of plenty of interest over the last couple of seasons. Once branded “phenomenal” by Steve Morison, he was once the subject of interest from Newcastle and West Ham.
He has been on loan three times now – the previous two spells, just half-season loans at Cardiff and Luton. He won the Player of the Season award at Cardiff, and then he gained promotion over at Luton.
This season, he’s gone to Birmingham – where he is already working under a third manager. After John Eustace and Wayne Rooney, Tony Mowbray is now in the dugout. He’s played 20 times, four assists.
His contract expires in the summer at Leeds, but Birmingham have a permanent option – in order to get a deal done for Drameh ahead of others. Clubs will be required to pay Leeds a compensation fee.

Now, a report from Birmingham Live explains the situation surrounding Drameh’s future. They say that while he is a Leeds player, and Blues have an option, he has been given the freedom to make a decision.
That means that the defender will be allowed to choose whether he stays permanently at Birmingham, or he waits for new interest in his services and possibly picks a new club. There will be other suitors.
Given, his excellent form in the Championship over the last few years while out on loan three times – and his availability. It is difficult to predict what happens next. Drameh will be the one that makes the call.
