Leeds United have been linked with a whole host of players with the January window now in full flow and one of those is Colombian star Jhon Arias – after enjoying a stunning 2023 with Fluminense.

Arias, 26, just featured for Fluminense in the Club World Cup – a part of the Brazilian side that lost to Manchester City in the final. He played 61 times, having a hand in 29 goals – scoring 12, creating 17.

Leeds are one of a number of clubs interested in signing the attacker, along with Rangers and West Ham. It is unclear how much clubs would have to pay for Arias, with his contract due to expire in 2026.

Arias has spoken about his future amid interest from Leeds and other British clubs, stating that he is unsure what will happen this month. Now, Colombia’s AS claims Fluminese are desperate to keep him.

That, and that there are no offers on the table for Arias as things stand. The report deems him the ‘most creative’ player in Brazilian football right now. A player with 11 caps for Colombia, and set for Europe.

Leeds linked with Jhon Arias; Most-creative in Brazilian football

What a signing he would be. Leeds do not need a winger as things stand, but Willy Gnonto and Cree Summerville continue to be linked with the exit door. Jaidon Anthony is on loan. Ian Poveda could go.

The latter’s future is due to be decided soon, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. One of six players that are now in the final year of their contracts. So, Arias could become a target.

Right now, he is probably just a player on a Leeds shortlist should the likes of Summerville or Gnonto get tempted with a January exit. Summerville has interest from the likes of Villa, Newcastle and Brighton.
