What Leeds United fans chanted at Crysencio Summerville after miserable Elland Road return

Crysencio Summerville endured a miserable return to Elland Road as Leeds defeated West Ham.

It was the first time the Dutchman returned to Elland Road since his £25m move to West Ham in August 2024 – but failed to make an impact during his 78 minutes on the pitch.

As Crysencio Summerville trudged off the pitch, Leeds fans let him know exactly what they thought.

Crysencio Summerville sent blunt message by Leeds supporters

After Nuno Espirito Santo opted to withdraw the Netherlands U21 international, Leeds fans in the South Stand could be heard chanting: “You’re too **** to play for Leeds.”

It doesn’t take a genius to work out what that word might be, to say the least, and it must have left the goal-shy Summerville devastated to hear those who once adored him turn in such a fashion.

There was some appreciation for the 2023/24 Leeds United Players’ Player of the Season winner – however – as many in the West Stand could be seen applauding the West Ham No.7 as he left the field.

Summerville – who acknowledged the Whites on Instagram beforehand – must have surely had mixed emotions running through his mind as he walked off the very pitch where he made himself a star at Leeds.

Brenden Aaronson outdid Crysencio Summerville

Brenden Aaronson was not a popular inclusion in the starting XI after his poor display in the 2-0 defeat against Burnley, but the American stepped up to outshine Summerville.

The United States international scored the opener and also proceeded to hit the bar in the second half – recording three shots and two key passes on a night where he tormented West Ham.

When Summerville was sold to West Ham shortly after winning the 2023/24 Championship Player of the Season award, few would have expected Aaronson to actually outdo the £25m man next time he encountered Leeds – but he deserves credit for doing exactly that.
