Leeds United kept their spot at the top of the Championship table after beating Preston 2-1 on Saturday, also putting five points between themselves and Sheffield United in 3rd.
Leeds United’s promotion push is back on track after back-to-back wins in the Championship, with Daniel Farke watching on as his side beat Preston North End 2-1 on Saturday.
It wasn’t easy by any means. Both teams had chances but Leeds were the deserved winners in the end, with Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle the scorers on the day.
Sheffield United lost a third-straight game on Saturday with Plymouth beating the Blades 2-1 to leave Chris Wilder’s side five points adrift in 3rd place of the Championship table.

Leeds United fans finished with Joel Piroe after Preston stinker
Whilst Leeds United were good on the whole against Preston, striker Joel Piroe had a bit of a nightmare performance, and not for the first time in recent weeks either.
The £10million Leeds striker missed chance after chance and fans had seen enough. One Leeds fan posted online: “Piroe dropping an absolute stinker again. Hope these misses don’t come back to cost us.”
Another added: “Feel for Piroe today but he has to come off, surely?” as this fan wrote: “The persistence with Piroe now is a joke this game should be dead and buried.”
With Patrick Bamford back and fit, many Leeds United fans want Bamford to start over Piroe, who fans are starting to think has lost his finishing touch after no goals in eight.
One fan asked: “Joel Piroe, how many chances do you need lad,” as a similar comment read: “Piroe wasted so many lottery tickets today.”
This Leeds United fan even wrote: “Piroe has cost us dear in the last two months.”

Joel Piroe’s stats vs Preston really speaks volumes
Leeds United fans had to sit through a finishing disasterclass from Piroe on Saturday. But even those who watched might be surprised to hear that Piroe missed seven chances in total, not even registering a single shot on target in the game.
| Statistic | Piroe vs Preston |
| Shots on target | 0 |
| Shots off target | 6 |
| Shots blocked | 1 |
For a player whose finishing ability has so often been hailed, and for a striker who’s scored 15 goals in the Championship this season, his finishing display against Preston really was woeful.
Next up, Leeds United head to Oxford United on Friday night. Earlier in April, Oxford beat Sheffield United on home soil so expect a tough game for Leeds United.
